Field Notes: East Fork Walker Creek
On Monday we had a great start to our East Fork Walker Creek project. There is a 3-foot culvert on private timberland that is perched and undersized on a small tributary to Walker Creek. SFEG is working with contractors to replace the culvert with a 60 foot bridge.
Dozens of juvenile coho, cutthroat trout and lamprey were netted out of a pool adjacent to the culvert. The fish were relocated upstream at Walker Creek where there was clean and clear water. We even had an 11” cutthroat trout!
