Interested in becoming a Spawner Survey Volunteer this fall/winter or learning about what it takes? This year’s training workshop will be be split into two parts.
The first part will be a classroom portion held via Zoom on Thursday, September 26 from 6-8pm. This is only required for new volunteers but we strongly encourage returning volunteers to join!
The second part/field portion on Saturday, September 28th from 9am-12pm is required for ALL volunteers – new and returning.
Learn protocol for identifying and documenting spawning salmon at restoration sites. After training, volunteer teams will walk assigned stream reaches weekly until late December/early January. These data help SFEG measure project success, and help track salmon recovery.
In preparation for this season we are asking that all interested volunteers take this survey by September 26.
**Please keep in mind we are asking you to commit to walking your stream once every 7-10 days from mid October until late December/early January.
