Thanks to the folks that came out to our last regular spring volunteer planting event of the year! We were graced with spectacularly sunny weather, quite the way to wrap up the season ☀️ next up is EARTH DAY! Fingers crossed we get similar weather!

Did you know that April is National Volunteer Mont

Did you know that April is National Volunteer Month?! Every Friday this month we'll be highlighting a different one of our volunteer programs that folks can get involved with during different times of the year.

First up is our Education Programs! Our volunteers help with classroom lessons but are especially needed to help with field trips. If you like working outside and are interested in having rewarding moments outside with local kiddos, you'd be a great fit for helping with our Salmon in the Schools field trips! At these field trips, 3rd-5th graders release the salmon fry that they've been raising in their schools since January, and also engage in a service learning element (like planting trees or removing invasive plant species.)

We also frequently need volunteer help with Kids in Creeks field trips and other less common events like our yearly Fly Fishing Field Trip where we work with Fidalgo Fly Fishers to teach local kids about fly fishing and its relation to conservation. If you're interested in volunteering with us but aren't sure how or where to start, send us a message and we'll find a way for you to get involved!

We couldn't do the work we do without volunteers - and we are so grateful for the thousands of hours that dedicated folks have logged with us over the years. 🫶

It's no April Fool's joke that we're super excited for Earth Day! On Saturday April 26th we're teaming up with Mount Vernon Parks and Enrichment Services to throw the Earth Day bash that this holiday warrants. From planting and invasive removal to a DIY trail mix bar brought to you by the Skagit Co-Op, we're going to celebrate our favorite day bigger and better than ever this year. Thanks to everyone that came to our last official spring Saturday Potting Party and got 525 plants potted in less than 3 hours! Don’t forget that our last spring planting event (other than Earth Day!) is next Saturday at Upper Day Slough. We hope you’ll join us to finish planting there 🫶

Yesterday some of our team (yes, the frog included) went out to Upper Day Slough to continue planting there! While we've spent a lot of time at this site this spring already, we still have plenty of trees that need to be planted - so many so that we added ANOTHER work party onto our spring schedule! On Saturday April 5th we'll be at Upper Day Slough again finishing up the volunteer portion of our planting there. Will you help us finish planting this site? 🐸 RSVP at the 'events' link in our bio!

We still have plants left at our nursery that need homes! 🌱 Although our stellar volunteers potted over 1,000 bareroot plants on Saturday, we still need volunteer help getting the rest of our plants into pots. Potting is a great volunteer opportunity for those of you who aren't as in to the idea of planting, and will be a chance to get outside in some HOPEFULLY nice weather 😉 will we see you this Saturday at our nursery? Thanks to everyone that came out to our first potting party of the season this past Saturday!! We managed to get over 1,000 pots filled with plants in less than 3 hours - THANK YOU for your dedication to helping us restore habitat 🫶🏻

We are HIRING up to 4 Seasonal Restoration Technic

We are HIRING up to 4 Seasonal Restoration Technicians for the summer of 2025! Seasonal Restoration Technicians perform manual labor to implement riparian habitat restoration projects throughout the Skagit and Samish River watersheds. Activities are primarily geared towards maintenance of native vegetation along waterways as part of ongoing restoration efforts. Specific tasks include mechanical weed control, herbicide application under the direction of a licensed applicator, mowing, mulching, watering, weeding, and removing trash.
